With the product assignment, you define which products Xentral synchronizes with your Shopify shop. The selection applies to all workflows, that is, to product data, stock levels, and prices. This ensures that only the products you also want to sell there reach Shopify.
-
You have created the Shopify integration, see the article Adding Shopify.
-
The products that you want to assign are created in Xentral. For matrix products, this means the matrix product and all variants are created.
-
Navigate to Settings > Integrations.
-
Click on the gear icon for your Shopify integration. The tab Configuration opens with the sub-tab Article assignment.
-
Under Configure filter, define one or more conditions. A condition consists of WHEN, a field, an operator, and a value, for example product number = equals 100001. You add further conditions via Add single condition.
-
Click on Save and apply. Beforehand, Xentral displays how many products meet the filter, and after your confirmation it creates the list of assigned products. Under Previously applied filters, you see the previous runs with the number of products and the date.
-
For the first tests: Limit the filter to one or a few products, for example via the product number. This way, you check the transfer without changing your entire shop.
-
For live operation: Extend the filter to all products that you sell in Shopify. A filter on the shop link in the online shop options of the products has proven effective.
-
Multiple product numbers: Combine the product number with the comparison IN and enter the numbers separated by commas, for example 100001,100005,100010.
-
Matrix products: Always include the matrix product and its variants in the filter. Variants without their matrix product lead to errors, see the article Shopify: Synchronizing matrix products and variants.
Note
Rules for the product filter
-
Only assign products that should also be listed in Shopify. Otherwise, Xentral publishes products unintentionally, and unnecessary errors occur in your instance.
-
If you remove a product from the filter, Xentral does not delete it in Shopify. Xentral simply no longer updates it. To find out how to take a product out of your offering, see the article Shopify: FAQs & best practices.
-
Xentral automatically includes new products that meet the filter overnight. If you do not want to wait, open the product and click on Synchronize products under Details > Online shop options.
-
Xentral does not continuously synchronize a product in the filter. Xentral transfers it only as soon as something changes for it in Xentral and an internal event is triggered as a result.
-
Independently of this, you can trigger products and other data types manually at any time via the journal. Open it via Automation > Journal, see the article Import/export journal.
