With the steps described here, you connect your Shopify shop with Xentral. You install the Shopify integration from the catalog, connect your shop, and select which data Xentral should exchange with Shopify. You then adjust the details in the configuration.
-
You are logged in to Xentral with administrator permissions.
-
Your shop is prepared, see the article Shopify: Setting up the shop.
-
You have access to your Shopify shop with administrator permissions.
-
Only when connecting via a custom app: You have created the app with all permissions and have its token at hand.
-
Navigate to Settings > Integrations.
-
Click on New integration. Xentral opens the page Integrations – Connect a sales channel to Xentral. In the area Installed, you see the integrations that are already installed; in the area Available, you see all other integrations.
-
Enter Shopify in the field Search. If needed, narrow down the list with the filters Price, Provider, and Category, for example to the category Shop.
-
Depending on whether Shopify is already installed or not, you have two options:
-
Shopify is installed: Click on the tile. The wizard for creating the integration starts directly.
-
Shopify is not installed yet: Click on the tile. Xentral opens the detail page with "Book this integration" and the sections About this integration, Included features, Booking, and Provider. Click on Install.
-
Shopify is a free standard integration.
Xentral opens the wizard Create new Shopify integration. It guides you through the setup in three steps: Authorization, Details, and Review. With Cancel, you leave the wizard without saving anything.
In the step Authorization ("Connect the account"), you connect your Shopify account. You log in directly at Shopify: Xentral redirects you to the consent page of Shopify, and afterward you return to the wizard. You connect your shop either via the public app or via a custom app. We recommend the public app: Shopify sets all required permissions automatically, and you do not have to manage a token.
Recommended: Connecting via the public app
-
Click on Connect with Shopify. Xentral redirects you to the consent page of Shopify.
-
In the Shopify window, select your Shopify account and wait a moment.
-
In the background, Shopify installs the app "Xentral ERP Connector" and sets all permissions. As soon as the connection is established, you receive a confirmation.
-
You then return to the wizard. Click on Next.
Alternatively: Connecting via a custom app
Shopify displays the token of a custom app only once. Make sure that you can complete the setup now, or save the token in a password safe.
-
Deactivate the switch for the public app.
-
Switch to Shopify, open your custom app, and click on API credentials.
-
Click on Reveal token once and copy it.
-
Switch back to Xentral and enter the credentials:
Field name
Description
URL
Enter the URL of your Shopify shop.
Token
Paste the copied access token. You can find it in Shopify under Apps and sales channels > Develop apps in your app.
-
Click on Test connection. As soon as the connection is established, click on Next.
In this step, you give the integration a name and select the features. Then click on Next.
Field name |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Integration name |
Assign a name by which you can recognize the integration later, for example the name of your shop. The name must be unique. |
|
Activate production mode |
Leave the switch deactivated. You activate production mode only after you have set up and tested everything, see the article Shopify: Going live. |
In this step, you define which data Xentral exchanges with Shopify in general. We recommend activating all features that you want to use. You set which data exactly is transferred later per feature in the workflows, and there you also activate each feature individually.
Field name |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Synchronize articles (excl. prices and stocks) (Xentral > sales channel) |
Transfers product data from Xentral to Shopify. |
|
Synchronize categories (Xentral > sales channel) |
Transfers categories from the product tree to the Shopify product taxonomy. |
|
Synchronize stocks (Xentral > sales channel) |
Transfers stock levels to Shopify locations. |
|
Synchronize orders (sales channel > Xentral) |
Imports orders from Shopify to Xentral. |
|
Synchronize prices (Xentral > sales channel) |
Transfers prices to Shopify, optionally to B2B catalogs. |
|
Synchronize order statuses and tracking (Xentral > sales channel) |
Reports shipping status, tracking, cancellations, and returns to Shopify. |
|
Payment transactions (Xentral > sales channel) |
Transfers approved credit notes as refunds to Shopify Pay. |
You can activate or deactivate the features at any time after you create the integration. You can find them under Configuration > General settings in the section Features.
-
A new integration does not exchange any data automatically yet. This only happens when you activate the features in the workflows, select the mode Production in the general settings, and switch on Channel active.
-
The integration does not transfer existing products from Shopify. If you want to retrieve product data from your shop to Xentral, use the CSV import, see the article Importing data via CSV import.
-
If the connection via a custom app cannot be established, check the permissions of the app in Shopify, see the article Shopify: Setting up the shop.
