If you are new to Xentral and your products are already maintained in a shop or marketplace, the best way to bring them into Xentral is the CSV import. If it is technically possible, you can also write the data to Xentral initially via API. After that, Xentral is the leading system: You maintain your products in Xentral, and the integration keeps your sales channel up to date.
Note
The previous initial data import directly from the shop (function “Import data”) is discontinued with the new interface for all integrations and is completely replaced by the CSV import. Use the CSV import for the initial population of your Xentral.
-
You can export the data from your sales channel as a CSV file or prepare it in Excel.
-
You have completed the preparations in Xentral. See the article Preparing Xentral for the integration.
-
The product numbers in Xentral match the product numbers (SKU) in your sales channel. This is the only way the integration can later recognize that it is the same product. If the numbers differ, you store external numbers. See the article Working with different product numbers in shop/marketplace and Xentral.
-
Export the data from your sales channel as a CSV file. The provider of your sales channel describes how to do this in their documentation.
-
In Xentral, navigate to Automation > CSV import.
-
Create one import per data type, assign the columns of your file to the Xentral fields, and start the import. The wizard guides you through the process step by step.
-
Check the result in the journal of the CSV import.
-
Then set up the integration. See the article Adding a new integration
Caution
Empty cells in your CSV file overwrite existing data in Xentral and thereby delete it. During the import, assign only the columns that you actually want to import or update.
Import the products first. Assignments such as linking a product to your sales channel require that the product already exists in Xentral.

Tip
If you already mark the products for your sales channel during the import, for example via a tag assignment or the link in the data type Product sales channel, you can later use exactly this marking in the product filter of the integration. See the article Product filter: rules for all integrations
You can find all data types, formatting rules, and error messages in the article CSV import: Overview and in the article CSV import error messages and solutions.
After the import and the setup of the integration, Xentral transfers changes to products, stock levels, and prices to your sales channel. A product in the product filter is not transferred until something changes on it in Xentral. If you want to synchronize all products once, restart the transfer in the journal. See the article Import/export journal.
