Before you connect OTTO to Xentral, you lay the groundwork on the OTTO side and in your shipping process. This way, you avoid situations where orders cannot be reported to OTTO as shipped later.
If you are not an OTTO partner yet, first register your company on OTTO Market. You can find all information about this at OTTO under OTTO Partner Connect. OTTO provides step-by-step instructions for the registration on the page Registration on OTTO Market.
Once your registration is complete and you can log in to OTTO Partner Connect, you can add OTTO in Xentral. The connection is established by logging in with your OTTO login. You do not need to create a separate API key.
The integration does not transfer product data to OTTO. Therefore, create your products directly on OTTO. Make sure that the product number (SKU) on OTTO matches the product number in Xentral. If you use different product numbers on OTTO, store them in Xentral as external numbers (see the article OTTO: General settings).
With every shipping confirmation, OTTO requires a return tracking number (return number) in addition to the shipment’s tracking number. Therefore, clarify before setup how you ship and handle returns, and create the required shipping methods in Xentral:
-
Automated parcel shipping with DHL: You need one shipping method each for deliveries and for returns. A return number pool is not required.
-
Freight shipping: You need a shipping method for deliveries and a return number pool from your freight carrier.
-
Other shipping service provider or fulfiller: You need the matching shipping methods and a return number pool from your shipping service provider or fulfiller.
You can find out how to create the shipping methods for each scenario in the article OTTO: Returns process.
Important
If you have outsourced your shipping to a fulfiller or do not use automated parcel shipping via DHL, request a return number pool early. Without a pool, the integration cannot report orders to OTTO as shipped.
