The so-called stock movement types in Xentral allow you to set up as many individually defined stock movement reasons as you like. You can then assign those reasons to specific stock movements. This way, you can track your stock movements and instantly recognize the reasons for those specific changes in stock, for example in case you want to transfer faulty products to another storage location or if you noticed that items have disappeared from your warehouse and you want to book them out of the warehouse entirely for this reason.
Stock movement types are defined in the Settings > Warehouse & Logistics > Warehouse > Stock movement type menu:
Afterwards, you can use the stock movement types according to your requirements when manually booking in stock, booking out stock and relocating stock in Xentral. The following functions allow you to use stock movement types:
As an optional step, you can assign a reference document for each stock movement type. If you do so, the reference document numbers are assigned for each stock movement of the respective type.
Proceed as described below to set up stock movement types in Xentral:
-
Open the Settings > Warehouse & Logistics > Warehouse > Stock movement type menu.
-
Click on + New.
-
Assign a Name for the stock movement type.
-
Define the Direction of the stock movement by selecting one of the following options.
-
Inbound: Items are entering the warehouse
-
Outbound: Items are leaving the warehouse
-
Relocation: Items are transferred between different storage locations
-
-
Activate the option Active.
-
Select a reference document. Select the option Not required if no document should be assigned.
Note
Example: Imagine you are booking in a purchase order an that has reached you from your supplier. In doing so, you accidentally book in more products than were actually delivered. You can now create a stock movement type with the direction Outbound and the reference document Purchase order and select this warehouse movement type when manually booking out the excess inventory. In the background, Xentral then determines the correct item quantity from the order document and automatically books the correct quantity.
-
Click on Save. The stock movement type can now be used for manually booking in stock, booking out stock or relocating stock using the functions listed above.
