To have a product listed in a product category of the item tree, you need to assign the category in the product master data. You can either do this manually in the product master data or you can import a CSV file via the import central and assign categories to multiple products at once.
You can assign a product to multiple categories at once, e.g., a product can be listed in the Clothes and For sale category at the same time.
To assign product categories to a single product:
-
Go to Sell > Products, open your product and switch to the Item tree tab.
-
Click Enable editing above the item tree.
-
Select the check boxes for all product categories and subcategories which you want to assign your product to.
Your changes are saved automatically.
You can assign multiple categories to multiple products at the same time by using the import central. This is especially helpful if you have a lot of different products and want to add categories on bulk. You can find out more about this in the following article: Assign categories to multiple products in the item tree via the import central.
You can export the item tree to some online shops to automatically create your desired categories and shop structures. You can select which part of the tree should get exported by selecting a root category in the Xentral interface of your online shop. This will be the basis from which the shop exports the item tree.
In the example in the screenshot, only categories and products that are attached to the Handelsware category will be exported to the shop. If you select the uppermost check box, every category will be exported.
You can then export the item tree in the Interface tab of your shop interface by clicking Artikelbaum übertragen (Transfer item tree) in the Action menu on the right. This option is only available if the shop supports item trees.
You can choose to display the item tree in the product overview. This can help you filer products more easily by letting you filter your own categories.

-
Go to Administration > System > Basic settings > System tab.
-
Select the Overview of item tree check box in the Product section.
