Email verification helps improve your security and user experience on our platform and further enables us to improve our services.
This article explains the benefits of verifying your email and how you can verify it.
Verifying your email not only immediately improves your security, but it also allows us to implement the following new features:
Instances where all users are verified by email can be integrated with our security provider Auth0, which reduces the risk of unauthorized access.
Moreover, this platform will allow us to implement advanced security features, such as multi-factor authentication, to further improve security.
Another advantage of verifying your email is to allow you to log in using your Google or Microsoft accounts. This not only speeds up the login process but also adds an additional layer of security to your account, as these services come with their own security measures.
Keep in mind - you can only enable Social login on your instance if your instance is already integrated to Auth0. You will not be able to use Social login without verifying your email and migrating the Authentication to Auth0.
Auth0 lets us implement OAuth, which is a standardized method for secure authorization from web, mobile, and desktop applications. This means that we can enable external engineers to develop applications to extend Xentral’s functionality with new applications.
Keep in mind - you can only enable OAuth applications on your instance if your instance is already integrated to Auth0. You will not be able to use these external applications without verifying your email and migrating the Authentication to Auth0.
The verification process ensures that the email you provided is really yours, thus increasing the security of your instance.
To verify your email:
Log into your Xentral instance. As long as you don’t verify your email address, you will get a message asking you to add your email address every day you log into your instance.
You can access the email verification screen in Xentral NextGen at any time by clicking Verify Email in the administration menu on the bottom left indicated by the initial of your username.
Alternatively, you can add /new/verify-email to the URL of your Xentral instance, e.g., https://myinstance.xentral.biz/new/verify-email.
Enter Your Email in the respective field, then click Confirm Email.
A verification email is sent to the specified email address within the next couple of minutes.
Go to your email account and open the email. Click the button to finish your verification. Alternatively, you can enter the provided verification URL in your browser.
Be aware that the link is only valid for 1 day. If the link is expired, you can restart the process by sending another verification email as described in Step 1.
Your email is now verified! You will be redirected to your Xentral instance, where a success message will appear.
