When you are expecting an exceptionally big rush on your online shops (e.g., due to the launch of new products or due to a big marketing campaign), we recommend some preparation measures to avoid problems.
There is a latency of several minutes in the stock synchronization process between Xentral and your online shop that can lead to overselling issues. In addition, the import of a large number of sales orders (> 50-100 orders per minute) from your online shop into Xentral while the shop is busy with a lot of other actions can lead to performance issues with your online shop system.
To prepare your systems before the start of the rush, perform the following tasks
-
Deactivate the lagerzahlen process starter. This will stop the automatic synchronization of stock numbers between your shop and Xentral. See also: Process starters
-
Sync the stock numbers (manually) in your online shop with those in Xentral.
Important
If several online shops are linked to the same stock (warehouse) in Xentral, you must divide the stock between them in a way that corresponds to the expected distribution of sales. For example, if the total stock is 100 items, you could allocate 30 items to Amazon, and 70 items to Shopware.
The stock numbers in your online shop now pose the limit to the sales possible. As the rush progresses, the stock numbers in the shop will decrease.
-
Deactivate the shopimport process starter. This is especially relevant if you expect more than 50-100 orders per minute in your shop.
You are now ready for the rush to begin.
To "clean up" after the rush and bring the systems in sync again, perform the following tasks
-
Re-activate the shopimport process starter. See also: Process starters
The sales orders will now be imported from your shop into Xentral in batches.
With the sales orders becoming available in Xentral and being handled there, the stock numbers will decrease in Xentral.
-
Once the sales orders have all been processed in Xentral, verify that the stock numbers are in sync again between your shop and Xentral. If they are not in sync, check again that all sales orders have been properly imported and processed, then sync the stock numbers again manually.
-
Re-activate the lagerzahlen process starter.
The system is now back to the state before the rush.
