Legacy module
The module described in this article has been marked as a legacy module. This means the following:
-
We don't create new features for this module or fix any bugs.
-
The module is not available anymore in Xentral instances (demo or licensed) created after 28-Sep-2022. If you as a new user have special requirements that could only be fulfilled by this module, please contact our customer support team to discuss a solution.
For more information, see also Why is Xentral deprecating some modules and what does this mean for you?
Administration → AppStore → Placetel connection
My area→ My Apps → Placetel connection
This module connects to the Placetel telephone system and allows you to make calls directly via xentral to the contacts in your address book.
There are several steps to be implemented in both Placetel and xentral for the setup.
To set up a program connection to Placetel, you need an API key, which you can find in your Placetel customer account under Administration → Settings → API. You can also generate an API token here if you haven't already done so: Placetel Website.
If you also want to map notifications via Placetel in xentral, the following additional settings are required under Administration → Settings → External APIs:
-
Check "Enable Call Control/Notify API"
-
URL of your API endpoint (please adjust URL): https://deineurl.de/index.php?module=callcenter&action=call&provider=placetel.
-
Enter shared secret for HMAC
You can enter the API key under Administration → AppStore → Placetel Connection or My Area → My Apps → Placetel Connection, whereupon it should appear on the right side of your Placetel account. The optional shared secret for using notifications can also be stored here.
Your accounts can then be created in the left text box. Please note the following syntax:
per line: Username Xentral:UID from Placetel → Example: JohnDoe:77777777@fpbx.de
If only individual users do not want to receive notifications, they can be excluded under My Space → Personal Settings in the settings area. The check mark for "Phone notifications" is set by default here and must be explicitly deactivated.
Using the ready-to-use Placetel app, outgoing calls can be made and incoming calls can be handled.

In the overview, you can enter a phone number in an input field and call it using the corresponding button. The call is then routed through your telephone system and transferred to the recipient when you pick up the receiver. In the phone book, all contact persons with phone numbers are loaded from the address master.
In addition, you can also start phone calls with the stored contacts directly from the address master. To do this, open the desired adress and press the telephone button next to the specified phone number.
As of version 19.1, incoming calls can also be assigned to existing addresses, making the following notifications available:
-
Incoming call
-
Call accepted
-
Call ended
In case of an unassignable call, a notification appears. In the case of an assignable call, the notification can be used to jump to the address or to create a telephone note.
Note
Call notifications are only issued globally. I.e. a restriction to individual accounts is not possible.
Outgoing calls:
If you want to make outgoing calls from xentral, there are two main methods. In xentral we generate a URL for every outgoing call, e.g. "tel:49123456789", this is supported by most software phones or programs like Skype, WhatsApp or also for TAPI clients of classic PBXs.
As a second method, xentral offers the possibility to connect APIs, whereby currently only the connection option via Placetel is available by default.
